Deb's Project's questions

Hello,
A brief description of the project.
The project that I am working on is quite basic but causing me grief.
My project consists of approx. 10 tasks all starting on the same day, and
finishing on the same day. Some resources may be assigned to one or more
tasks. The duration of tasks can range from 30 minutes to usually not more
than 5 days.

First of all our work day is 8:30 - 4:30, 1 hr for lunch. I thought that I
had changed the calendar to be 8:30 to 4:30, but the Gnatt chart is still
starting at 8:00 am.
We also work a 7 hour day and a 35 hour week.

It seems that the best way to tract this project on the Gnatt chart is to
use the timescale by hours. If I use the timescale by days the task bar for
a 30 minute task is very small. I also am having some difficulty when I set
the % complete on a task to 50%, it basically runs across the entire bar, not
just halfway through.

Microsoft Project 2003
I hope that you can help me.

Thank you very much.

Hi Deb,

As far as the difficulties you are having the with starting and ending
times: see FAQ # 5 "Default Working Hours" at
http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm

For tracking, instead of trying to track progress by the dragging the %
complete marker in the Gantt chart, you may find it easier to work with the
tracking table (View>Table> Tracking) You can then modify Actual Start and
Actual Finish to more accurately reflect progress on your project. You can
also work directly with the % complete as well as actual and remaining
duration.

Hope this helps.

Let us know how you get along.
