Tracking Gantt II

KT

Hello

I haven’t explored MS Project completely so I don’t know whether this is
possible, but thought of trying it. I have a task that is scheduled to
complete on April 30. So I start tracking the task by updating the percentage
complete. Say when I enter 35% complete, the task status shows late. So from
this I understand that, if I progress in this pace, I am going to be late in
meeting the deadline so I should rush up and finish it or manually move this
due date to the future. My question here is, 'Is it possible for MS Project
to anticipate the late schedule?' In other words, besides giving me the
status as late, can it layout the anticipated due date if the task is carried
out in this current pace. Any suggestions… Thanks in advance.

Hello KT,
Instead of %Complete, enter the Actual Duration and reevalute the
Remainning Duration (use the Update Task dialog). or the Actual Work and
Remaining Work.
That reproduce the real world a better way.

Hi Pratta,
When you enter an Actual Start (whatever you do that) on a task, the Start
date of this task is "locked". That's normal.

Hi Gerard
Yes, its a powerful feature, but how do you tell that the date is locked
subsequently; there is nothing to indicate, except by inserting an "Actual"
column. If a date is locked, then shouldn't it show as a hard date?
The Task Info tells us that there are no constraints on this task.
This seems to be a departure from what is normal for MS Project.

Pratta,
Use the filter "Tasks with Fixed dates" : it'll show all the tasks with Date
Constraint and with Actual Start.
