Tracking View Issue on Task bar

I have a plan showing tracking view with baseline as top bar and current task
as bottom bar. However, on some tasks the bottom bar doesn't show unless I
put it as 100% complete even if the task isn't finished. this is drivinng me
nuts. help greatly appreciated as need this for a programme review tomorrow.

Select Format, Bar styles and compare this to the Tracking Gantt Chart's
style. The Tracking Gantt still works? If so, either use it instead or the
difference in style between it and yours is your answer.

The sequence of styles has an effect as well.
