transfer software to new laptop?

I have purchased a new laptop and now i am trying to load my MS Office
Professional in my new laptop. It show in the add/remove programs, however
it does not recognize it. I try loading again it says cannot find program.
So it just runs MS 2000 Office.

Any suggestions?

If you have an "OEM Version" that came with your old PC,
it cannot be reinstalled/transferred to a different PC. Only
"Retail Versions" of Microsoft Office can be transferred.

i purchased from staples office xp pro upgrade

cannot put this on my new laptop

Uninstall both Office programs, then just install Office XP.
You'll be prompted to insert your Office 2000 CD in the
CD Drive during setup. There is no need to install Office
2000 first.

I show the ofc xp in my control panel however it will not let me remove,
states source not available, can you tell me how to give this deleted?
