Transferring office xp

I am setting up a new computer. I had office xp proffessional in my old computer. We did that by purchasing office xp professional upgrade. It installed ok on the old system. I am having trouble installing it on the new system. Seems I need a qualifying product. I am not sure what that product was on the old system. I had office 97 business on the old system when we upgraded it. Ihave put office 97 on the new computer to try and see if that was the qualifying product but seems it isn't
Any suggestions?
