Transferring Outlook Contact List

G

Greg Schafer

I recently acquired a new PC and transferred into the new
machine running Office 2003 the info from my Office XP
Outlook contact list. I've since modified (updated) my
contact list in the machine running Office 2003 and tried
to download my updated contact list back to my other PC
running Office XP and it says it is incompatible with the
version I have.

Can anyone confirm that you can transfer data in Outlook
from Office XP to Office 2003, but not the opposite
direction? Am I faced with upgrading the other machine
if I want that capability?

Thanks to anyone who might see this post.

The PST format in Outlook 2003 is not compatible with earlier versions. It
is a simple matter to create a new PST file in the old format in Outlook
2003 and copy the Contacts data into it, then open that PST in earlier
versions.
