Tries to update office every time it is opened

Hi,
Running Office 2007 Pro, SP1, on XP Pro SP2.
About 2 out of 3 times PowerPoint files are opened, PPT tries to configure
itself. It says "Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007" "Configuration Process"
"Configuring Office 2007". Have run the process mutiple times. Have rebooted
multiple times. Still happens. Even cancelling takes a long time and
sometimes hangs.
Please help.

Hi Ari

Are you running any other version of Office on the computer? I ask as I'm
running 2003 & 2007 and Word has a hissy fit when I switch from one version
to the other, though the other programmes behave themselves (well, I didn't
install outlook 2007 as you can't run 2 instances of outlook).

Also, Office Enterprise is a corporate type thing (afaik) so do you have an
IT dept you can contact?

No, not running any previous versions of office. On one of the affected
computers, no previous versions of office have ever been installed...
We're a (very) small office and I'm the "IT dept"... But we are MS partners
and have the Action Pack, which gives us a SBS server and Office 2007
Enterprise, among other things.
Still can't pin the problem down. Pretty annoying, as it can take 15 minutes
(on a FAST computer) to finish before work can be done.

Hmmmm. Does it happen when you open PowerPoint, when you double click a
PowerPoint file or both? I'm wondering if it is related to files created in
older versions (clutching at straws here :) ).

Oh, and have you done a detect & repair? Office button -> powerpoint options
-> resources -> run ms office diagnostics.
