I need some serious help. First I lost some of my contacts when I hotsynced
with my palm and the handheld over road the desktop.... not sure how exactly
that happened. I was able to recover some of my data from the deleted files
in Outlook but not all. Some of my other data was on my home computer in Palm
software. I was able to export that info from the palm software into an excel
spread sheet and save it to my handheld. Now I have the information in an
excel spreadsheet on my office desktop. I tried to import the file, I mapped
each column as directed and the importing process began. It stalled after a
while and I looked in my contacts and there were close to 1000 empty new
contacts created and only imported the Names only field not any of the other
information (such as addresses). Now I have a bunch of names with no
information to go along with them and a bunch of empty contacts. What did I
do wrong. I think maybe I was to select the cells somehow in excel but I am
not sure and I can't find information on this anywhere.
Plus on top of all of that, I was able to delete most of the empty contacts
but now I get an error message when I try to delete anything from outlook.
"The messaging Interface has returned an unknow error, If the problem
persists restart outlook" Which I have with no change. Now I cant even delete
tasks. Am I screwed? I feel like I am.
I tried to Import a past personal file hoping to start from another day.
That did not work. When it started copying contacts, I got the same error. I
am going to enter the data by hand and will settle on information on how to
delete. Also, tomorrow I will be getting the latest version of Outlook. I am
afraid that I will carry over all this bad stuff to the newest version. By
the way I have not hotsynced since Tuesday so my original data is there.
Please help me if you can .... someone!!!!!
