Trouble opening an Excel file that contains macros

I am having trouble opening an Excel file on my laptop. I receive a message (
could not load an object because it is not available on this machine).
The file contains macros, but I have no problem opening the file on my
desktop machine. I have Office 2003 loaded on both machines. Is there an
Excel plug in or up date that I am missing???
