When I am typing and go to use my space bar, it removes what I have already
typed, same with the tab, when I tab to something it removes what I have
typed, what is wrong?

Press the Insert button or double-click OVR on the status bar to toggle from
Overtype to Insert mode.

Do you have what you have already typed selected when you use the space bar
or the tab key?

Wow. That was bizarre. No clue what happened there.

It sounds like the questioner has Overtype turned on. It usually can be
toggled by pressing the Insert key or by double-clicking the OVR item on
Word's status bar (bottom of Word's window).
