Trying to uninstall / delete Office 2000 from XP

Wow, never knew it would be so difficult to uninstall a
program. I was fine this morning running Office 2000
Pro. I was going thru the updates and made it thru SR-1
with no problem. Went to update to SR-3 and all hell
broke loose. I've tried everything I could think of to
remove everything and start over, but it won't let me.
When I tried to go thru Ctrl Pnl, nothing happens. When I
inserted the orginal CD's, nothing deleted. I finally
deleted all of the Dir's and rem'ed out the Registry
entries where they were keying on SR-1. This allowed me
to at least "reload" Office 2000 Pro, but now it is all
screwed up. Nothing works, Word, Access, Excel, etc.....

Now all i want to do is delete everything associated with
office 2000 and start over. MS has a utility to do this
for 98, 2000, ME but NOT XP. Does anyone know of a fix
for this? I want to completely uninstall Office 2000
from XP.

Please help !!!!!

I had the same problem some time ago. First you uninstall the program in the
usual manner. Make sure your documents are not in the office directories.
Then go into Windows Explorer and delete the remaining directories. The, if,
you have one run a registry cleaner and then finally defrag the disk you had
Office on. Then reboot. Check msconfig that no remnant of office is there
either. Then check regedit the software keys to make sure it's gone from
there also.

Microsoft makes it difficult. At this point it should all be gone. Now
reinstall Office as if it had never been on your computer before. It should
go in smoothly. (I hope).

Good Luck.

Problems here too. I can't seem to uninstall SR1 to
install 2000pro, running Win2000. Don't matter what I
try, the sys asks me to insert disc 1 from SR1 version.
Dont'have this disc anymore. You mentioned that MS has
utilities to help issues like mine for WIN 98 = 2000?
Where can I find it?
Thanks for your help
