Two questions

1. Word help says that one can view multiple pages using Print Preview.
It does not say hwo. I have at some point seen two pages side by side
and even four, but I've no idea how I did it.

2. I have set the Heading style to have a Page Break Before. I have a
heading on page 6. If I put my mouse at the start of the heading, and
Insert Section Break (Continuous) the break appears at the bottom of
page 5 (which is fine) and my old page 6 with the heading on it now
becomes page 7. That's actually what I want, but it confuses me. Why
should a continuous section break produce an extra page? and why does
pressing the down key go straight from page 5 to page 7, with no page 6
visible?

I'm currently still using Word X. I will go to Word 2011 as soon as a
glitch with Amazon and the Post Office is cleared up.

Maybe you don't have the Print Preview toolbar open? There are icons
on it for switching to various page views.

Got me on that one, sorry...

It was open but mostly hidden behind other windows. Somehow I managed to
change view without, as far as I can recall, clicking on that toolbar.
Anyway, now I know how to do change when I want to. Many thanks.

Given the gazillions of functions that can be assigned to keystrokes
in Word, I wouldn't be surprised if there's one for changing the page
view in Print Preview, so maybe you hit the right keys for that.
Anyway, now I know how to do change when I want to. Many thanks.

Great!

That worked in Word X.

I've just (today) got Word 2011, which seems to be laid out very
differently. There isn't a Print Preview toolbar. The command is
probably somewhere in the Ribbon, but I haven't found it yet. It must be
possible, as one document shows a page at a time and another shows four
pages.

If you find out how to preview multiple pages in word 2011, please let me
know. I use it a ll the time, and now it appears to be gone. Thanks

It's neither as obvious or as convenient as it used to be. But zooming
out (to say 75%) in Print Layout View will give you four pages on screen
(2 x 2). There are probably other settings if you want a different
number.

Also there are possibilities in the Publishing Layout view.
