Unable to drag Outlook attachments to desktop

I am no longer able to drag Outlook attachments onto my desktop. It just
stopped working without any error messages. The cursor displays a '+' like
its performing a copy, but the file does not appear on the desktop, or any
other destination I choose. I am able to select the attachment and use Save
As, but dragging the attachments to a destination has always been much
simpler.
