Unable to read BT e-mail

Help!!!!!!! its driving me up the wall :)
I am unable to read e-mails from my primary BT Broadband
e-mail account using MS Outlook 2000.
When trying to read e-mails i get "connecting to server",
then "Downloading message" then either it freezes or
downloads some then freezes, I then get the following
error number 0x800ccc19 or similar.
I have no problems reading e-mails from other BT
Broadband accounts or other ISP's, only my primary.
Anyone have any suggestions?
I am now at 500+ unread messages.
