I recently reformatted the harddisk of our PC and
reinstalled all programs. The environment is Windows 98
and Office 2000 Professional. Every family member has its
own userid. In this configuration, the system has run for
years.
The reinstallation of the software did not give any
special problems. All the latest patches have been
installed. For myself, everything works OK. However, none
of the other users is able to run Office programs.
Trying to open a document results in an error "the program
that is associated with this document cannot be
installed". Trying to start Word or Excel directly gives
an error saying that the application is not installed. All
non-Office programs work fine. Removing Office and users
and reinstalling/recreating them does not solve the
problem.
Any idea?
