underallocation

i am not sure about naming my subject as underallocation.
i have task = 3h work
it is fixed work
also, only 1 resource is allocated for it
the allocation unit is 100%
and the plan is distributing this work between 2 days as 1.5 h in one day
and 1.5 in the following day.
also, there is no other task assigned in this day to my resource and working
hours are 6.5 h/day
my 1st question is why do the MS project distributed like this instead of
putting the whole 3 h in one day??
the 2nd question when i change the unit of this resource to 200% it is
marked red as overallocated, why is this happening?
please, advise.
thanks,
ddd....

MSP spreads the work to the stated duration, 2days because the default curve
is to level load the work.

Why not all in one day? It is only 3 hours .... you told Project the
duration was 2 days.

Overallocation... go to your resource sheet. I believe you will show Max
units for the resource in question is 100% (1 person). So, when you go to
the assignments and assign him as 200%, he is overloaded.

Try changing the duration to 1 day...

actually, the task is fixed work so i didn't specify the duration, it was
generated by MSP.
i tried to play with the duration as well but this changing the max unit and
also turing it to red

Hi,

Something is crooked from the start.
If you have 6,5 h of working time per day, and a resource works 1,5 h per
(full??) day on a task, the allocation units aren't 100%.
Thsi can only happen when the task starts 1,5 hr before end of working day.
Please change the time format to including time of day. Project's unit is
the minute and a "day" may not be whet you call "a day".

Thanks a lot Jan.
it was so helpful to change the date format, it is painful but it helped a
lot to discover the problem.that's the dependancy was delay the task.
thanks again.
