Undo Missing; Copy also Missing

Word in Office 2004 /and/ in Office 2008. There is no "Undo" option in
the Edit Menu. Command-Z works, but I like choice. After Command-Z,
"Redo..." is available in the Edit Menu. Did they replace the Undo item
with Undo in the page toolbar? If so, why doesn't the Redo in the page
toolbar replace the Redo menu item?

Similarly, Copy is missing from the Edit Menu. Command-C works, and the
Paste Command is available in the Edit Menu.

What!?

Furthermore -- and I don't know that this is related to Word -- I
copied some text from a Word 2008 document to paste into a cell in
Dreamweaver. It would not paste unless I selected Paste Special>Text
Only (and no other Text option) in Dreamweaver. I was able to paste the
text from Word into TextEdit, then copy and paste from TextEdit into
the Dreamweaver cell. I can also copy and paste from Word into Pages
and then from Pages to Dreamweaver.

Thanks,

Davoud

It may have occured prior to installing 2008... If 2004 was still there the
new installation took its cue from the existing Prefs file (as a guess).
Have you tried going to the Customize Menus/Toolbars dialog then selecting &
Resetting the Edit menu?

As Taz said, it looks like your menus are fubared and need resetting, since
these commands have *not* been removed in Word 2008.

As for your second problem, this is a known issue and it appears to be DW's
fault. It is the responsibility of the app doing the pasting to determine
which clipboard format to use. DW rejects the HTML that Word 2008 generates
and then refuses to convert it to another format (which it *should* do). At
least, that's my understanding of the situation.

I have no idea where this bug stands at Adobe but I suggest you go rattle
their cages :).

Thanks very much to both CyberTaz and Beth Rosengard. Between you, you
solved the first problem and explained the second. I appreciate your
giving of your time.

Help!

I am missing Edit from the Word 2008 toolbar. I don't see any of the options listed in Edit either.

I have tried resetting the toolbars but this does nothing it seems.

Could anyone give direction on how I can get the Edit option back on my Word Toolbar so that I can undo, copy, paste and paste special?

If a minimum, if there is a Control Key combo that performs Undo, let me know.

Hi John:

Right-click a blank part of a toolbar to go to Customise Toolbars and Menus,
choose Toolbars, select the Menu Bar, and click Reset.

Cheers
