Undo & Redo grayed out

Don't know why but want to fix it. I have neither option available. I have
tried old diagrams new diagrams and have the same condition. It's got to be
something stupid simple but I can't get them turned on.

BTW, don't have the same issue with any other Office product.

Thanks,

Jim

Seems like number of undo/redo actions (options) is set to zero.
Change it to another value than 0.

Frank,

Thanks for the reply, but already looked at that. It was set to 20, I tried
it on several other settings just to be sure but it made no difference. Any
other thoughts?

It gets more interesting.

I have a series of drawings that prompted me to create a custom stencil. If
I open any drawing NOT including the custom stencil everything works fine.
If I open one of the drawings that automatically opens the custom stencil or
if I open the custom stencil in any drawing not originally using it I loose
the Undo/Redo function. Even if I close the stencil and/or the drawing that
had the stencil, the Undo/Redo function remains disabled. I tried moving the
custom stencil (with Explorer) so that Visio couldn't find it prior to
starting Visio and starting one of the drawings to which it was connected (so
it couldn't open it) and the Undo/Redo function works fine. There is
something about the custom stencil causing the problem.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Thanks, Jim

Jim,

maybe there is a macro started when opening the drawing or using a shape.
Look for code containing "Application.UndoEnabled = False" or
"ThisDocument.UndoEnabled = False"
If you find it change it to "...UndoEnabled = True"

Frank,

Great thought. I checked all the documents and stencils open and none have
a macro of any kind with them. Keep going, good ideas.
The fact that this only happens in relation to the custom stencil I am using
leads me to believe that there is something wrong with the stencil. But
haven't found anything yet.
