Uninstalling Office 2003

We have a few users who are using Office 2003. I was told
to move those users back to Office XP so I uninstalled
2003 and reinstalled XP. Why are all the Office icons
still from 2003? Also the user can not access the GAL. She
can send emails by entering in the SMTP address but can
not see other users in the GAL. Is Office 2003 not
completely removed?
