Uninstalling old outlook made new one not work

I was told by Microsoft that an update that lept showing up but wasn't
successful was because I had 2 versions of Outlook and needed to remove the
old one. After I did that I cannot use Outlook 2003, and I cannot reinstall
it because it won't let me remove it. It says "Installation source for this
product is unavailable. Verify that the source exists and that you can access
it."
It is from a CD-ROM from Microsoft!
Please help me!
