Units changing

I am entering in my resources and assigning them 100% to
fixed work tasks. When I do this, Project recalculates
the percentage to force a 1 day finish. If I go in and
change the percentage back to 100% it then recalculates
the duration correctly.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I don't think I
should have to do the entry twice.

as the task is fixed work, when you add the units the
duration is the field that is changed. the units and
duration will move while the work remains "fixed".

If you are more interested in the units fixing at 100%
then add the task as fixed units (effort driven) and add
resources as required at 100%. then set the duration (or
work) which will then drive the Work (or duration,
respectively) value accordingly.
