Unknown spaces in a word 2000 doc.

When you open an existing document there are spaces between
the words that prevent you form editing the document. When
you print they are not there? To fix the problem you have
to reload the program. A doc will look like the example below:

Now is the time for all good men to come to
the aid of their country .

From your example, is it possible that you have full justification turned
on? Select the document and press Ctrl+L (left justification). Does that
remove the "spaces"?

This sounds like a font substitution problem. The document is probably
using a printer font, and the screen display is using some substitute.
