Unmaster a master project

I currently have a user that has given me a master project. He would
like it to no longer be a master project. Is there a way to "unmaster"
a master project.

It has about 400 tasks in it and the plan itself is good, so we want to
use it. We just don't want/need for it to be a master project anymore.

Thanks!!

uott2know,
A "master" project can mean different things. The most common is a
master with inserted subprojects (dynamically consolidated master). In
that case all you need to do is to unlink the subprojects (assuming
there are no external links between subprojects). If you are using
Project 2003, you will first need to make sure update SP-1 is installed.
If not, install it. Then in the master, select the insertion point of
each subproject and go to Project/Task Information/Advanced tab. Uncheck
the "link to project" option. This process will create a static master
from a dynamic master.

If the subprojects have external links between them, the links will not
be preserved using the above method. If there are only a few links you
can simply break them and re-establish them once the dynamic master is
converted to a static master. If there are a bunch of external links,
you will need a VBA macro to make the conversion. I have such a macro
but it is not freeware.

If your master is some other configuration, you will need to help us by
telling us more about the structure before we can help.
