Hi

If a task is scheduled within certain dates how can I make project
automatically update the % completion according to today's date?

Thank you

Hi swilks,

Try Tools > Tracking > Update project, Update work as complete
through....

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thats great!! Thank you.
Is there any way that i can make a selection of different tasks to be
updated altogether, but then somehow save this selection of tasks so they are
always updated as a group?

Hi swilks,

You're welcome and thanks for the feedback.

I'm not sure I follow what kind of tasks you wish to group together for
purposes of updating. You may use the Group feature in Project to group
like tasks based upon specific criteria and then just re-apply the group
as needed. You can also filter the list of tasks to show only tasks
based upon specific criteria.

Tell us a bit more about what types of tasks you wish to update as a
group and we can hopefully answer in something more than generalities.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Sorry i wasn't very clear.
I have a number of sites within the form, each one with a number of
milestones and one task (with a defined duration) for each one. I want
project to only update the %completion of each of these tasks according to
the date, but not change the milestones. Some of the milestones are not yet
completed and the date they will be completed on is unsure, therefore I do
not want these to be updated.

Maybe there is a better way to put in tasks that havn't yet been done other
than leaving as todays date and 0% complete?
The overall aim is to be able to show information on where we are within
each task quicly and easily.

Thank you!

Hi swilks,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

To your question of not affecting milestone tasks when updating
progress. You could modify the Date Range filter already in Project to
filter only tasks within a specific date range and further filter out
milestone tasks.

I took the existing Date Range filter, copied and renamed it to "Date
Range No milestones" and added an AND condition with the following
criteria
Milestone equals No
AND Summary does not equal Yes

That filters the list of tasks within a date range and omits milestone
and summary tasks. You can then select the tasks remaining and use the
Update Project command.

As far as what to do with tasks that are not started, you might use the
"Reschedule uncompleted tasks to start after" command which is also
accessed through the Update Project command. Make sure you record
progress on all tasks as needed and then reschedule any incomplete tasks
to begin on the next day.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
