Upgrade of Entourage for Exchange use

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I have the Office 2008 Home & Student edition, I know that it does not have exchange server support. My employer provides a copy of Entourage with Exchange support but every time I try to install just this Entourage version it kills the rest of the office application, I can't open Word, Excel or Powerpoint. In addition, it won't even let me open Entourage. Is there any way to use the Home & Student office applications and the version of 2008 Entourage that I'm being given?
