User access

I am using Project 03. I have several different groups work represented in
one file which includes a resource sheet w/costs on it. Not all the groups
should access to rates for the other groups resources. Is there a way to
control what access each person has in the schedule if I provide each of them
with a copy of the schedule to review and do what-if's, etc.?

Hi Penny,

No sorry. If a user has access to the project file he/she can see
everything and change everything.

Instead of providing them the file, have you considered printing the views
you need them to see? Perhaps printing as a PDF file or saving as a web page?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thank you Julie. I was afraid of that. Right now I am using pdf to supply
them with the iformation they need. But it is not easy to do "what ifs" when
necessary.

Thanks again.

You're welcome Penny. The only other option is to zero out the payrates in
the Resource sheet. You could copy/paste the real information into a spare
number field (Number10) that would be unlikely for someone to discover and
then just replace the information (copy/paste) as needed.

Hi Penny,

There's nothing built in, but essentially, if I understand you properly, you
just need to clear out the cost information. Provided the what ifs? don't
include costs, you can manuallly reset them all to zero. However, as I
gusess this will be a regular thing, I think you need some vba macros to do
it all for you. If so, try posting on the
microsoft.public.project.developer newsgroup. Please see FAQ Item: 24.
