Using jpeg picture

When I insert a jpeg picture into a new powerpoint project I am not allowed
to insert any more pictures or slides. (I have pp2002) The switch for
selecting a picture from a file is lighten out so the switch can not be used.
I don't know how to get the project to accept more images. I don't know
what I am doing wrong. I don't know how to correct the problem.
