Using one doc for several products

I have a doc that needs to be interchangeable so we can use it for 3
products...for example...
The doc is called source cap and it needs to be used for branch cap and
batch cap. Is there a way to use a variable where these names are concerned
so I don't have to create 3 separate docs?

You could use a Custom Property (File > Property > Custom tab). Type a name,
select Text type and give it a value, e.g. "source" and click on Add.

Then, in the document, wherever you want this value, insert a field:
Do CTRL-F9 to insert field braces {},
Between the {}, type "DOCPROPERTY NameOfProperty" (Without the quotes)
Do SHIFT-F9 to toggle field code to field result.

Whenever you need to change "source" to "batch", change the property value
in the File menu.
