Using Outlook Contacts in word while using OE as default email

When I had Office 97 I used to be able to use OE as my default email and
still use my Outlook Contact list to print envelopes and labels in Word. Now
in Office 2003 it appears that the only way I can get my Contact list to
appear in Word is to set Outlook as the default email. Is there any way to
use OE as default email and still get my Contacts to show up in Word? I
would use Outlook for email except that I use multiple identities in OE and I
want to keep them seperate, and I cannot switch identities as easily in
Outlook as I can in OE.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

I agree that this sucks, but there doesn't appear to be any way around it (I
also use OE).
