using relative constraint dates

Hi:

I'm trying to set up a project plan that I can re-use several times. Once I
complete it, I'll just need to enter a new Project Finish Date, and all of
the tasks will adjust to the new date.

Unfortunately, if I set any constraints on any of the tasks, they will not
move when the new finish date is set. Is there a way to set, for example, a
"finish no later than 90 days before the end of the project" constraint
instead of a "finish no later that 9/1/05" constraint?

Thanks for your help

It sounds like you are calculating from the project's Finish Date to
determine the start dates for all tasks. Yes? In that case, you want to:
1- Set the Schedule From... value in Project-Project Information to "Project
Finish Date"
2- Define a Finish-to-Start link between the "Constrained" Task and the
"Project Completed" milestone (placed at the end of the project). For this
link, set the Lag=90d

This avoids use of the Constraint Date feature, which should be used very
sparingly in a Critical Path Method tool, like MS Project. Remember, the
schedule you create is the "plan", the desire, the dream, of when tasks will
execute. Reality is entered into the Actual columns.

Hi,

First of all, avoid to enter date constraints, especially in a plan which
will be used as a model !
Anyway, if you have such date constraints, use the Adjust Date button in the
Analysis tool bar.

Apparently, you are scheduling from the finish date, so, presumably your task
constraints are all set to As Late as Possible. In that case, for the tak
that you wish to complete 90 days before the finish date you can set a
typical FS link from that task to the finish milestone, with a 90-day lag.
