Very strange Outlook problem

Ms Outlook simply doesn't let me to type the email address into the "to" or "cc". Well actually it lets me type letters but it wouldn't let me type "@". No problems with Outlook Express though. I'm wondering if it expects me to use the address book for email addresses?

If you press the "@" does any other character come up? If so you might want
to check you keyboard layout and see whether there are no lay outs installed
you don't use.
For Windows XP; Control Panel-> Regional and Language options-> tab
Languages-> button Details...
