Video in Powerpoint

Using Powerpoint 2003

Someone wants me to do a presentation for them and wants to know the
following. If they use a digital video recorder, can I then insert that file
into Powerpoint so that it will play. This, of course is assuming it's all
very perfect and doesn't need editing!!!!

Are there any limitations or is there something I need to know or be aware
of before I start this process. I haven't started the file yet. Thanks for
any help. Diana

Aside from the quality issues, video directly from a camcorder can use
non-standard codecs, be of large size, etc. For a video to play the computer
needs to have that codec installed. For simplicity and to avoid lots of the
pitfalls of video in PowerPoint look into the PFCMedia add-in
(pfcmedia.com) to handle inserting the video file into the presentation,
optimizing to a small video size and assuring it uses a standard codec.

Thank you for the tip Troy.
Looks like I have a little more research to do.
I don't own a video camera, so I can't even do a test. It'll be
interesting.

Tohlz, thank you for the links.
Like I said to Troy, I obviously have a little more research to do on this.
I didn't expect anything more than the final foramt to be a possible issue,
but I guess that was a wrong assumption.
