View "My Tasks" with permissions

Hi

I'm trying to implement the security in Project Server
2003 in order to have several projects published but the
people that capture their work hours only should see the
projects I gave them permissions to see.

I've configured the security in this way:
1. Create a security template (like team member)
2. Create a Group (only give a name and apply the
security template i've just done)
3. Create a category
3.1 assign the group just done
3.2 in section projects select "only projects
indicated below" at the moment i haven't publish any
project. And deselect all the "allows..." options
3.3 all the other is like in category "My Tasks"
4. Finally I create a user with the group and category
i've already done

After all this I publish a project and I can see in
wiew "My Task" all the tasks where I can capture
hours !!. And I did'n give permissions in the category to
see that project !!

How can I control the permissions if i want to publish
several projects ?

Hope somebody can help me ?

Thanks a lot

From your description, I'm not absolutely certain what you are trying to
accomplish. Do know this, however: you DO NOT have to configure any kind
of custom permissions in order for resources to view their task assignments
in the View My Tasks page. Hope this helps.

Hi Dale ..

Basically what i'm trying to do it's to publish several
projects in project server 2003. And a person who has
assigned tasks in those projects (for example 3
projects)... I want him to see the assigned task of only
one project

How can i do this ?

Thanks !

When you select Collaborate - Publish - All Information, Microsoft Project
publishes both the project plan AND the task assignments to PWA. When you
publish assignments, the system displays those assignments on the View My
Tasks page of each assigned resource. It sounds like you want to publish
the assignments in only one project, while you want to publish the project
and not the assignments in two other projects. To publish a project, I
recommend the following two-step process as a best practice:

1. Click Collaborate - Publish - Project Plan to publish the project plan
information to the Project Center and detailed Project views in PWA.

2. Click Collaborate - Publish - New and Changed Assignments to publish the
assignment information to each resource's View My Tasks page (this will also
allow you to edit the e-mail message sent to the team members).

I never recommend using Collaborate - Publish - All Information on the
initial publishing of the project since you lose control of what is
published and to whom. If you have already published the assignments for
all three projects, then I recommend you do the following to remove the
assignments for the two projects from each resource's View My Tasks page:

1. Save each of the two projects as an .mpp file on your hard drive
2. Ask the Project Server administrator to delete the two projects from the
Project Server database (this will remove the assignments from the View My
Tasks page for each project)
3. Import each .mpp project back into the Project Server database using
Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise
4. Click Collaborate - Publish - Project Plan for each of the imported
projects

Hope this helps.
