View Project Workspace permission does not work

Gil

Hi all,
For the pilot stage of implementing Project server 2007, I chose not
to include project workspaces in the implementation.
I DO want project workspaces to be automatically created while saving
a project to the server (so we can use it in the future without the
need to connect it manually), therefore I checked this options on the
"Project Workspace Provisioning Settings" page, but I DO NOT want the
users to be able to "Go to" project workspaces and add documents,
risks, etc, so I UNCHECKED the "View Project Workspace" permission on
the server setting "Project Web Access Permissions" page.
The problem is it does not work! Even though the permission is
unchecked, users can still click the project name on the "Project
workspaces" web part and go to the workspace that was created, and
then add or edit lists and items. They can also link to the workspaces
from Project center page.

We are running SP1 on 2007 version. I did not find anything on that
problem on the web.
thanks,
Gil.

I think you'd be better off setting the provisioning settings to manual and
teach your PM's not to select not to create the sites for now. Keep in mind
that the system will continue to give you the option to create a workspace
on every Publish action until one is created.

Thank you for your answer.
I do want the PM to create the workspace, but I want to start using it
only after the pilot ends.
Any idea why disabling the "View Project Workspace" is not working as
it should be? Have anyone tried it and succeeded?
