View unapproved updates server 2003

Hi there,

We have Project Server 2003 and have a problem whereby a recently deparated
Project Manager has not approved task items in Project Web Access for his
project.

Is there a way in PS 2003 to have the 'Administrator' approve all task items
already sent (to a departed Project Manager) by each team member(s) of a
particular project WITHOUT having to re-publish the task items and getting
everybody to re-enter their times?

I've tried a couple of things like:

1. in PWA: click Admin > Manage users and groups > Groups > modify Resource
Managers > set attribute: Approve Timesheets for Resources to 'Allow'

2. in PWA: click Admin > Server configuration > Within the multi select
settings box called "Select the features that you want to make available to
users in Project Web Access", under "Tasks", I set "Approve Timesheet for
Resource" and "Timesheet Approval" to 'Allow' (note: I had to change the
Managed Time Period in 'Customize Project Web Access'

NOTE: We want to avoid re-publishing all task items again if it means team
members have to re-submit actual times.

Cheers

You have not done the obvious. Whoever will process the task updates,
whether it be the Project Server administrator or some other PM, follow the
steps in the 2003 section of the following FAQ to change the Manager of the
project:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/changeprojmgr.aspx

Republishing the assignments using the steps in this FAQ will not require
the team members to re-enter their task updates. Instead, the process will
transfer the unprocessed task updates to the Updates page for the new PM.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help.

The issue is that the previous Project Manager did not confirm the project
updates in PWA before he left.

In the link you provided it states:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Note to Project Server 2002 Users Only: Before using the above procedure,
confirm that the current Manager has no outstanding updates for his/her
project on the Updates page in Project Web Access. If any updates are present
for the project, he/she must process these updates into the project plan and
publish project changes before you take over as the Manager of the project.

Um, that warning refers to users of Project Server 2002, so I'm confused.
Are you using 2002 or 2003? If you are using 2003, the warning does not
apply. Let us know and we will try to help.
