Viewing graphics in normal mode

I use to be able to place and view graphics in Normal
view mode. Now all I get is a blank box. Why?

You can place in-line graphics in normal view but they won't display if you
have them switched off with tools > options > view > picture placeholders
checked.

Thanks, it worked like a charm. I didnt realize I turned
it off.

Few questions here go unanswered, and you may not have turned it off. Word
sometimes has a mind of its own
