want full, not abbreviated drop down menus

I have windows XP professional, and when I press start and then "programs" or
"documents", it will only show an abbreviated drop down menu. What setting
will change this so a full menu will be shown?

1) This is an Office group.
2) Windows XP has a Help and Support Centre. May I suggest you use it?
