want the page to be horizontal instead of vertical 4 new document

when first opening a new document, the page is shown as vertical. I want the
page to be horizontal and cannot figure out how to change it.

File > Page Setup > Landscape > OK.

The correct terms are Landscape and Portrait, not horizontal and vertical.
