Want to change project work without changing duration

Can you please tell me how to change work in microsoft project 2002 without
changing the duration. The project I set up defaulted to setting the
duration; now, I am trying to go back in to adjust the amount of work but it
also changes the duration. For instance, if I have a task that the duration
was set to 2 months, but the amount of work for the resource during that time
is only 2 days, how can I change the work without changing the duration. I
tried setting the project to default at Fixed Duration under schedule options
but that did not work.

Hi Perry,

Changing the defauklt does not change the setting on existing tasks
Select all tasks
Look fi rthe "Task information" icon on the toolbar, click it
Advanced tab
Set Task Type to Fixed duration
OK.
