Want to preview messages without opening email

I have recently moved from Outlook Express to Outlook
2000. In express I have been able to view incoming
messages without opening the file unless I double click it.
Is this possible in OL 2000 and how do I achieve this?

You can use the preview pane if you want.... I presume that's what you were
using in OE. View, preview pane..
