Either keep tweaking your design until it look OK at all
display resolutions you expect, or enclose the entire
design within a fixed width table.

Fixed width tables are trendy, but they're no panacea. If
the browser window is smaller than expected, the right
side of the page isn't visible without scrolling. If the
browser window is larger, the visitor sees a large blank
space.

PS
and the browser doesn't care how many inches the monitor is
- what counts is the user screen resolution in PX

You can begin to 'fix' it by following these three suggestions....

1.) Use Google to research how monitors actually render and display
webpages.

Google: "render"+"display"

From the articles you find you will also learn other terms not
known to you. Use those terms and submit new searches.

2.) Obtain BroweserSizer (free) or BrowserMaster (shareware)
SEE: http://www.applythis.com/

3.) Question the inferred authority of those named as MVPs
