What happened to my contact?

What happened to my contact list when I click on the To: to address new out
going mail after I converted to the Microsoft Outlook 2003 version from the
plain Microsoft Outlook?

I upgraded from the preloaded application in my Dell computer to the 2003
version. Now in my folders list "Contacts" they are all still there, just not
when I open a new message to be sent and click on the "To" on that page. It
should give me a box with all my contacts in it to choose from but it does
not. I hope this is enough info because I don't know how else to explain it.

The version from which you upgraded and the method used to upgrade would be
helpful to know. There is no "plain" Microsoft Outlook.
Hopefully all you need to do is to configure your Outlook Address Book
correctly. Read directions here:
