The clipboard is a temporary spot on your hard drive that will hold
not only files but part of files...words...pictures...lots of stuff.
Windows Explorer is for file maintenance only.

You might want to check out this article for a little further info:

No Eating Paste

Depending on your system, you should also be able to retrieve the
clipboard to see it to get a better idea what it does by clicking
Start > Run. Then type CLIPBRD and hit enter. It should appear. Copy
something to the clipboard by highlighting something and hitting Ctrl
+ C to copy it to the clipboard and then view the clipboard to see the
info and you might better understand.

Also...realize that when it comes to computers there ARE MANY ways to
do the same or similar things and tasks. You'll find other items that
are very similar once you start exploring more.

Hope this helps...

Hi Iliya,

The features of the Office clipboard vary by version.
In Office XP (2002) and 2003 the clipboard, unlike
the regular Windows/Wordpad type of clipboard holds
up to 24 items and shows them to you visually in
the Taskpane in Word and Office so you can select
the item you need more easily as part of your work
surface.

The MS Windows Clipbook (Start=>Run=>Clipbrd)
that Dian mentioned has a similar functionallity
outside of the Office work surface.

You can also, depending on the type of item you're
using copy a .DOC or a Graphic from Windows Explorer
into a Word document to add that contents, but generally
it's for getting to a file and then opening it rather
than getting to parts of a file.

========
Thanks>>
