When linking to subprojects....

I am creating a Master schedule, that links to 3 individual schedules. I
noticed that in the predecessor field, the path is "C:\Docu...edule.mpp\xxx",
where xxx is the ID of the task that it's linked to. Now, if I
add/delete/move tasks, does that link to the predecessor in the master
schedule get updated? ie. Does the master schedule know where the linked
task is in the new schedule? If it does, then great! But out of curiosity,
how does it know what to link to... by unique ID?

Yes,

I think it does use the Task Unique ID. Certainly there is no problem
inserting new tasks. Links are maintained. However, be very careful with how
you treat your files. Never over-write them with other copies, never move
them or rename them. Doing so can corrupt projects at either end of the
link.

For this reason I tend never to link projects when I insert them but use a
recorded macro to recreate a master schedule when I need it for reporting.
Much more robust over the longer period.
