when will the email be downloaded?

Hi,
Is the email downloaded when I open the outlook express? Or the email is
downloaded when I actually click on the email itself? If there's virus
inside the email, will my computer be affected when I open the outlook
without actually opening the email? Thx.

Hi Adrian
if its pop3...........the email is downloaded onto your PC as
soon as you open outlook and make a connection unless you've set it up to
just download headers, to minimise disruption from virii try getting a
decent virus scanner AVG 6.0 is reasonable (and free to download) do a
google search for it, keep it updated regularly and make sure you have the
preview pane in OE disabled....and of course DO NOT open attachments from
unknown sources also for the latest in virus news try subscribing to a
security newsletter from one of the well known vendors like symantec or
Mcaffee this should give you a heads up about any security probs that might
head your way.
