When you insert a text box how do you change it to single spacing

I am using Microsoft word 2003 letter template with an envelope. I saved the
document and wanted to insert a text box which I moved to the top right side
of the page. Everything is great except for the fact that I am using it for a
address, and I end up with double spacing. I tried the format text box and
changed it to single spacing; however I still have double spacing. I also
highlighted it and went to format paragraph and that did not work either.
What do you suggest I do to solve this problem? Help?

If you have modified the Normal style to be double-spaced or have Spacing
Before/After, this will affect text boxes, but you should be able to change
this for any given text box via Format | Paragraph.
