Where does Groove Data Reside?

Hello,

I'm testing groove in a private network between two computers. There is no
Groove server. Is this purely peer to peer with no data being sent to the
Internet? I know Microsoft offers hosted groove services, but is it
necessary? I'm just trying to determine where data is stored without an
internal server. I can't have this data on the Internet.

Groove data on the servers is transient. Under some circumstances, data goes
to the Relay server, encrypted with your keys, until the receiving Groove
installation can accept delivery of it. Once it's delivered, it is removed
from the queue on the Relay.

For a detailed write-up of how Groove 2007 works with your own servers or
with Microsoft's (and a pointer to another article on what happens if you
don't have an Internet connection) see
