In the future, please post your Project Server questions to the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is devoted to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your question, if
you are NOT using Managed Time Periods in Project Server, you can enter the
actuals in the Microsoft Project plan. To do so, complete the following
steps:
1. Open the project in question
2. Click View - Resource Usage
3. In the timephased grid on the right, right-click and select Actual Work
from the shortcut menu
4. Locate the resource in the list of resources
5. In the list of assignments for that resource, select the assignment(s)
worked on before he/she left
6. Click the Go To Selected Task button on the Standard toolbar
7. Zoom the timescale to Weeks Over Days (or to the tracking periods in
which you enter actuals in PWA)
8. Enter the Actual Work values for each time period for this resource's
task assignments
9. When finished, click Collaborate - Publish - All Information
If you are using Managed Time Periods, or would simply prefer to enter the
actuals in the PWA timesheet for the departed resource, ask your Project
Server administrator to change the resource's PWA user account to use
Project Server authentication and to set the password for this account.
He/she should then tell you the password so you can log into the user's PWA
account.
Once your Project Server administrator has done this, you should navigate to
Project Web Access. The system will log you into the system as yourself.
Click the Log Off link in the upper right corner of the screen to log out as
yourself. In the log on page for PWA, enter the name of the resource and
the password given to you by the Project Server administrator, and then
click the Go button. At this point, you have logged into the system as the
departed user and then you can enter and update the actuals from there.
Hope this helps.
