Why did my Office applications disappear from my computer?

I wanted to start up Outlook tonight, and it was gone. So are Excel, Word,
etc. The shortcuts are there but my system says invalid shortcut. My computer
is password protected and no one was here, it worked a few days ago (last
time I used them) and I did not uninstall them. This happen to anyone before?
How do I recover my outlook email files?

Pending the arrival of someone who has seen this problem before, suggest you
try the following.

First do a virus scan and a malware scan {if possible}. You should also
consider running a check on your hard drives for errors. In Windows XP,
open My Computer, right click on your primary drive, select Properties and
then the Tools tab. Under Error Check, click on Check Now and select all the
option boxes. If your Office is not installed on your primary drive, also
do an error check on that drive. If you are not using Windows XP, check
Help for how do an error check on your drives.

Do a search for: winword.exe. If the file is found double click on it to
open Word. If Word opens, it is likely that at least Word is intact. In
Word go to Help and run Detect and Repair. You likely will need your Office
CDs. You could also use Control Panel, Add/Remove programs or your Office
CD to run a repair installation.

If Word does not open, suggest you use your Office CDs to reinstall.

I have seen the links broken a few times, but the programs have always still
been there. Look for
your office instalation and youmay be able to redo the links (right click
the exe file and send to desktop). They seem to get lost sometimes with a
power failure, an error in shut down, or some other unexplained behavior.
