Why do I have duplicate entries in the "Select Names" box?

Only single contacts are listed in my Contacts file, but duplicate names show
up in the "select names" box after clicking on send "to". How do I delete
duplicate entries and still keep one of each contact?

Do some people have multiple email addresses? If so, they'll show up once
for each email address

Hi CowDoc

in addition to Vince, maybe the "duplicate entries" is one entrie for the
email address and one entrie for the fax number of the contact?

Vince,
Thanks for the response. Some contacts have more than one e-mail address,
but that's not the problem. When I click on properties for a given contact
with only one e-mail address, the same info shows for all the same contacts'
listing. When I switch to the Contacts list, only one entry for each contact
is displayed.

Just to verify, you're referring to seeing the contacts listed in the
Address Book more than once, right?

CowDoc

Correct, Vince, that is if the select names box is what you are calling the
address book. It's not titled as such. When I click Forward, the selct names
box appears and you have a choice on the right to pick Outlook Address Book
(no entries) or Contacts. I pick Contacts and that's when I see duplicates
(no faxes in contact).

I just double checked my address book and I see some contacts twice or three
times but each time there's a different email address in the columns on the
right

Thanks, Vince. I checked my address book at home (Outlook 2003) and the
problem does not exist. At work (Outlook 2000) is where it is a problem and I
think it started when I downloaded Plaxo, which I have deleted. I think the
only thing to do is rebuild a new list and delete the old one.
